Grant Name: Waste Reduction Community Grants

To reduce the amount of residential waste that meets landfills and engage communities to participate in actives that reduce residential waste. Eligible groups include resident, tenant, and neighbourhood associations, service clubs, ethnic community organizations, registered charitable organizations, environmental organizations, school groups, clubs, and councils.

American Grants


United States

Grant Name: The Keep America Beautiful/Coca-Cola Public Spaces Recycling Bin Grant Program

The grant program awards recycling bins to schools, government agencies, colleges and other community organizations on a competitive basis. Interested parties complete an online application, designating the style and number of bins they would like and explaining how and where they would use the bins. Keep America Beautiful selects recipients based on the merits of their proposal according to several criteria including need and the potential to recover the greatest amount of recyclables. Keep America Beautiful then works with its vendors to arrange delivery of the bins at no cost to the grant recipients. In addition to the free bins awarded through the grant, all applicants are extended the opportunity to purchase additional recycling bins and related accessories at a special, discounted price. Grants are offered to KAB affiliates, government and public agencies, non-profit organizations, tribal governments, religious organizations, colleges & universities, k-12 schools and other community groups

Funding goes towards buying recycling trailers and bins, collection trucks and other equipment, as well as funding to support education efforts encouraging participants in recycling programs.

The ALPAR Recycling Mini-Grant is available for communities and non-profits to promote community recycling of household materials in Alaska. Funds can be used to support programs and projects such as purchase of equipment, recycling events, and education and public awareness efforts.

Grant Name: Beverage Container Recycling Grant

To establish convenient beverage container recycling and litter abatement projects, as well as to encourage market development and expansion activities for beverage container materials. Eligible grant members include California cities, counties, other local government entities, as well as joint power authorities, special districts, public education institutions and districts, non-profit organizations and qualifying Indian tribes.

The goal of this program is to support cities and counties to reach and maintain an 80% recycling rate for all California refund value beverage containers (aluminum, glass, plastic, and bi-metal). Funds can also go towards helping litter cleanup activities as well.

Grant Name: Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity (RREO) Grant Program

The RREO Program provides funding for businesses, local governments, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions in order to promote economic development through the management of materials that would otherwise be land-filled. Funds are available to support recycling, composting, anaerobic digestion, source reduction, and beneficial use/reuse. This includes using grant funds for recycling bins.

Grant Name: RecycleCT Innovation Grant Program

Provides support to higher education institutions, municipalities, municipal or regional planning organizations, special districts (e.g. school districts, public housing authorities), and non-profit organizations (including institutes, alliances, or trusts) that are working towards sustainable materials management, with a focus on zero waste, waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.

Grant Name: Georgia-Pacific Foundation Grant

Through the Georgia-Pacific Foundation Grant, organizations, governments, schools and fire/police departments within the Georgia-Pacific manufacturing area are supported through environmental programs that promote clean air and water, recycling, and resource conservation. Grant Name: Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) Municipal Grant

SMRP provides financial aid to local cities, towns, regional authorities, and certain non-profit organizations with projects to improve local recycling, composting/organics, reuse, source reduction, program development, and enforcement activities that increase diversion and reduce disposal.

Amount: Has awarded $35,000,000 since the start of the program in 2010.

The fund supports recycling companies, subsidiaries, or units that collect or separate recyclable materials for resale, or who reuse, process, compost, or convert recyclable materials into marketable products. The fund aims to promote businesses to become active in recycling-related activities.

Grant Name: Recycling Market Development Grant Program

The Recycling Market Development Grant Program is for both non-profit businesses and organizations, cities, townships, counties, tribal governments, municipal solid waste authorities, resource recovery authorities, educational institutions, health departments, or regional planning activities. The grant includes financing for commercialization of technologies to replace materials with recycled content, in order to improve the quality, increase the quantity, and grow demand for utilizing recycled materials in manufacturing or other uses. It also includes research and development of new uses for recycled materials.

Grant Name: EGLE

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) is awarding nearly $1.6 million in infrastructure grants to six public agency and nonprofit recipients in Washtenaw County, Michigan.
