Amazon has registered $89 billion in sales and $5 billion in profit over the past 3 months.  In the first quarter alone, their sales have increased by 26%. During the pandemic, the number of people ordering online has increased dramatically.  People are shopping online for both convenience, and safety. There are many countries around the world where COVID cases continue to rise.  Any situation where there is a higher density of unprotected people the rates are increasing,  caution needs to be given to these “hot spots” which include grocery stores, malls, and other high-traffic areas, which are considered hot spots for the virus. One alternative to encountering these high traffic areas is to order online.  With that, comes different types of packaging that must be properly recycled to ensure we continue to protect the environment. Here are 7 unique ways to recycle all types of Amazon packaging:

1. Padded Envelope

Padded envelopes can be recycled and placed in your blue bin for curbside pick-up. There may be exceptions based on your municipality or waste hauler’s limitations. Check your township’s website for specifics.

2. Bubble - Lined Plastic Bag

Many municipalities allow curbside pick up, but if yours doesn’t, Amazon has a service where you enter your postal code/ zip code for a drop-off location.

 3. Cardboard Box

Amazon cardboards can be recycled regularly! Leave it in your blue box for curbside pick-up. TIP: Don’t forget to remove any tape before throwing them into your recycling bin.

4. Packaging Paper

Packaging paper can also be placed in your blue bin for curbside pick-up.

5. Air Pillowrecycle amazon packaging

Pop the pillow and allow it to deflate and either place it in your blue bin, if your township doesn’t allow air pillows recycled then bring to one of Amazon’s, or other drop-off locations nearby.

6. Gel Pack

Unfortunately, the gel packs cannot be recycled and must be thrown in the trash.

7. Bubble- Lined Enveloperecycle amazon packaging

Try to reuse or repurpose bubble-lined envelopes to divert as much waste from landfill as possible. If you cannot, throw them in the trash!
