To compost, or not to compost? Previously, we covered what belongs in your compost bin so now we’ll take a look at what doesn’t belong:
Plastics
Aluminum pie plates
Hot drink cups
Dirty diapers
Glitter
Chopsticks
Popsicle sticks
Toothpicks
Aluminum foil
Dryer sheets
Baby wipes
Cigarette butts
Dental floss
Cotton balls

As a general rule, inorganic materials, metal, and plastic cannot be composted. What can and what cannot go in your green bin also depends on your region. Be sure to research your township’s guide for composting to avoid contamination.
